Our Success Story

The

Situation

One of the clients that we were working with were going through an Agile transformation for managing their projects. The client was fairly new to the Agile approach and more importantly the mindset. Projects in the past were handled by the head of the departments, same folks who were responsible for day-to-day business activities. They needed some coaching and training on scaled agile approach, specifically SAFe® methodology. They were at that time working on managing a massive backlog of issues in the system that needed to be resolved. There were several teams and stakeholders involved in this undertaking.

The

Action

Agilify, with its project management acumen and years of experience in both implementing and training its clients, came up with an approach. Since time was of essence to fix the bugs and issues and get the system in a stable condition, we focused on delivering training on a compressed schedule of about 4-5 weeks. We decided to give all the team members a SAFe® certification-based training with more of a workshop type approach. So, we divided the team members into groups:

  1. Executives
  2. Product Owners
  3. Scrum Masters
  4. Team Members

We decided to train them on the following SAFe® certification tracks:

  1. Leading SAFe®
  2. SAFe® Product Owner / Product Manager
  3. SAFe® Scrum Master
  4. SAFe® for Teams
  5. Implementing SAFe®

After conducting the training, we also conducted a 2-day workshop where we worked with the client to discuss the real issues that they were facing on their workplace, such as building and managing a product backlog or doing releases etc. The client came up with whatever questions or scenarios they had, and our expert coach helped them to direct them to the right solution.

Result

After conducting the training, we conducted a survey, the results of which were a 97% satisfaction and a full 65% increase in the level of confidence of the team members. They also mentioned that the training helped them to be better equipped in following the SAFe® approach and less chaos than before.

Over time as we monitored some other KPIs, we found that the client was able to fix the critical issues in the system in just shy of 11 months of the time of training delivery, which was about 1.5 month earlier than their projected dates.
